2020 JAUM Aspiring Entrepreneur Competition

In response to COVID-19 guidelines, we re-imagined the 2020 Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest (JAUM) Company of the Year Competition to go virtual. On Monday, May 11, five student-led companies from four different schools participated in the 2020 JAUM Aspiring Entrepreneur Competition, a virtual event that prepares JA Company Program students for the JA USA National Student Leadership Summit (NSLS). The event utilized Zoom for live interactions and “breakout” sessions for team engagement with entrepreneur mentors.

Students presented their business plan to a panel of judges. The judges assessed students on their overall presentation, business innovation, social impact, and also offered feedback to these young start-up companies. Special thanks to our judges:

  • Brian Lipschultz, Co-CEO and Trustee, Otto Bremer Trust
  • Ro Adebiyi, Senior Counsel, Brightpeak Financial
  • Adam Choe, Co-Founder, Yonder
  • Laura Espeseth, Vice President/Controller, Bridgewater Bank
