A letter from past and current JAUM Presidents: Last month our region lost a great leader, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who quietly built a multi-million dollar global business and invested millions back into our communities via philanthropic gifts. Hugh was one of JA’s greatest champions, dedicating thousands of hours as a volunteer and board member to ensure millions of young people had opportunities to learn about their roles as citizens, workers, and consumers in order to build their future success. He was a constant voice for impacting under-represented youth in the urban core and rural Minnesota and funded many initiatives to grow JA programs in those communities. Hugh was dear to all of us at JA, but especially each of us leaders who learned so much from him about running an organization and partnering with the community to show young people the unlimited opportunities for their future and the importance of participating in our democracy.  Our thoughts are with his family and Horton Holding, Inc’s employees across the world.  We will miss him deeply.
