Students Shine on the National Stage

On Monday, July 7th, two student companies from JA North's Company Program were highlighted on our local ABC affiliate, KSTP Channel 5, during their morning show, Minnesota Live. Along with our President and CEO, Sara Dziuk, students from both companies appeared during segments of the show to spotlight their businesses and how educators, volunteers, and JA North helped along the way. A huge thank you to Megan Newquist and Chris Egert, the hosts and inquisitive duo you see in the clips below.

EARTHA on KSTP!

EARTHA and Green Garden Bakery were selected to represent JA North at Future Bound in Atlanta for the National Company of the Year competition. Future Bound is a student conference hosted by Junior Achievement USA to highlight incredible young people from around the country. Students descended on Georgia State University to join in learning and making new friends. Watch their recent highlight on KSTP >>

Experiential Skills to Last a Lifetime

Sara's remarks about JA North's experiential programming ring true as these incredible young people from Eartha stand with her on camera. "JA North's Company Program essentially helps student groups take an idea and turn it into a business. We work alongside student groups and coach them through that process from identifying a need they want to meet in the community, through their businesses being realized, and selling products online or in-store. This develops entrepreneurial and life skills such as creativity, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving that students utilize along the way. This experience prepares them for their futures, and whether they become entrepreneurs, community leaders, or work in any type of professional setting, these skills travel with them throughout life."

GGB: The Social Innovators!

Last month, Green Garden Bakery in North Minneapolis was also chosen to travel to Future Bound in Atlanta. As one of 15 competitors vying to become the JA National Company of the Year, Green Garden Bakery received the Delta Social Impact Award by standing out to judges with their outstanding dedication to social innovation by mindfully meeting a unique societal need. Congrats, GGB!

Standing Beside Students

At JA North, we see ourselves as conduits to student success. And when students shine like these two groups of young people, we are happy to become bystanders, cheering them on as they take their ideas and initiative and soar into the future! It's truly a magical moment to see students 'get it' and dive deep into an idea or grasp onto a larger-than-life concept. We aim to create an environment where students see the real world up close and envision their place in it more clearly. If you feel like joining us, please don't hesitate to jump in by volunteering or supporting JA North with a financial gift.
